MAC In The Community

Books laying on tableNew Choices/New Options is a community service of Mount Aloysius College and a state funded program administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Bureau of Career and Technical Education.

This program serves

  • single and/or teen parents;
  • divorced or separated displaced homemakers; and
  • individuals in transition in achieving economic self-sufficiency

New Choices/New Options offers a 60 hour workshop with an opportunity to improve and gain workplace skills and knowledge through out of class activities. Classes are held at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson and at various sites in Bedford, Johnstown and Somerset.

Our free services include:

  • building self-esteem, assertiveness, effective communications and goal setting;
  • vocational assessment, identifying strengths;
  • basic computer skills;
  • create a quality resume and write commanding cover letters;
  • traditional and nontraditional training opportunities;
  • communicating and highlighting your marketable skills and networking; and
  • connecting with job shadowing/volunteer opportunities to learn more about jobs in specific industries

Cresson Classes Start March 15

Johnstown Classes Start March 16

Tuesdays & Thursdays for six-weeks
9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

*The next set of classes will start Monday, May 10 in Cresson and Tuesday, May 11 in Johnstown.
