Mount Aloysius College uses students' SAT scores to first assess students' readiness for specific college-level courses. For example, students may begin in Rhetoric I or may be placed in a developmental writing course, EE 98. If students would like to challenge their course placement, students may complete a placement exam.
Accuplacer is an adaptive, online, and untimed assessment. It allows us to assess an individual's readiness for college-level curriculum. The placement exam assesses students' reading comprehension, grammar skills, and basic mathematics and algebra skills. Students receiving lower placement scores will be required to enroll in specific Educational Enrichment (EE) courses according to the scores and College course prerequisite policies.
