ORIENTATION AT MAC

Welcome to Mount Aloysius College! The faculty and staff at the College are excited that you will be joining the Mountie family. Our students are important to us and you will experience this in the individual care, challenge and attention you receive while you are here.

Attending Orientation is an important step in making the transition to life at MAC. All incoming students are required to attend the Orientation Program, which will be taking place Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. (a light dinner is included).  Upon arrival, you will check in at the Cosgrave Center information desk.  To plan accordingly for your arrival, it is very important that we know how many students and parents to expect.  Please respond via email or telephone to Melissa McBrayer directly at (814) 886-6321 or mmcbrayer@mtaloy.edu, no later than January 6, 2009.

Part of being a new Mountie is getting to know your college and the best way to do that is through Orientation. You are now a member of a just and caring learning community.  While you may feel anxious and nervous now, Orientation is designed to help calm these emotions and ease your transition into the community.  You’ve made a good choice by joining a group of scholars who hold similar values of justice, hospitality, mercy and service!

Because spring orientation is held the second day of class, there may be some important questions to answer before that day.  Here is a list, with answers, of the most common questions we receive:

When can I get a parking permit and how much does it cost?  Parking Permits are available from the security office located in the Main Building.  Security will be set up to issue permits the whole first week of classes and they recommend you come in as soon as you are able.  The cost is $20.  You will have until the end of that first week, January 16th to secure your parking permit.

When and how can I get my text books?   The campus bookstore is open, beginning on January 5th, from 8:30am-4pm.  To learn more about the campus bookstore, you can visit the bookstore website at: http://www.mtaloy.edu/student_life/bookstore/

When and how can I get a student identification card? Student ID's are available from the security office located in the Main Building.  Security will be set up to take photos and issue ID's the whole first week of classes and they recommend you come in as soon as you are able. To learn more about campus security visit their website at: http://www.mtaloy.edu/student_life/safety_and_security/
