Health Services

Dear Student,

Congratulations on your acceptance to Mount Aloysius College! Preparing for college is an exciting time, and good health is essential for achieving your educational goals. Our health services are designed to assure your health and safety while a part of our college community. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of your requirements as a student in regard to your health and to inform you of the resources in Health Services.

The required enclosed Student Health Record is to be submitted to Health Services prior to attending classes. Please read all sections carefully and complete the form as instructed. The health form includes an immunization record documenting proof of disease immunity. A physical exam signed by a physician is also required for all students. The information on your health form will be kept strictly confidential and will not be released without your written consent.

Health Services is located in St. Joseph's Hall Rooms 100A & 102. Hours are 8:30 am-5:00 pm Monday thru Friday. Common problems of college students are treated free of charge while more complicated illnesses are referred when indicated and are subject to restitution by the individual and/or insurance carrier. Students are strongly recommended to have health insurance coverage. All dormitory students and intercollegiate athletes are required to have health insurance coverage.

Other health services include: health insurance information, ambulance subscriptions, hepatitis B vaccine, tetanus booster, MMR booster, meningitis vaccine, flu vaccine (when available) and various health and wellness related activities. Pennsylvania law requires the Meningitis vaccine or signed waiver for all dormitory students.

All Health Studies and Nursing students are advised to receive the following at Mount Aloysius College: CPR certification, tuberculin PPD testing, and random urine drug screening. These services will be billed to your tuition as a Clinical Education Fee. You will be notified by your department or Health Services when you are to complete these requirements.
