Student may be eligible for financial aid for Summer sessions depending on their enrollment status, eligibility and the availability of financial aid funds. Mount Aloysius College offers the following sources of financial aid for Summer sessions: Federal Pell grant, Federal Work-Study, Federal Direct Stafford loans, Federal Direct PLUS loans and alternative loans.
Students wishing to apply for financial aid for summer must complete the current year & upcoming year Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form must be on file to determine Federal Pell Grant eligibility and to process a Federal Direct Stafford loan. In addition, any student wishing to receive any type of financial aid must be matriculated into a degree program and students are asked to sign up for ALL classes for summer before a determination can be made regarding their aid eligibility. All students wishing to apply for a Federal Direct Stafford loan or parents wishing to apply for a Federal Direct PLUS loan for Summer must complete a "Summer Loan Request" form at the Financial Aid Office. Student must be enrolled at least half time (6 or more credits) during the summer. The Summer Loan Request form must be received by the Financial Aid Office before the last day of the Summer II semester in order for the Stafford Loan or PLUS loan to be processed. A PLUS loan will also require the completion of a Prequalification Form. A Master Promissory Note (MPN) (for both Stafford & PLUS) must also be on file with the Department of Education. Student loans will not be processed without the "Summer Loan Request" form on file.
Note: The amount of Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loan borrowed for the summer sessions takes away from the total amount that can be borrowed from the upcoming fall/spring semesters. Please refer to the College catalog for additional Financial Aid information.
